Remembering Ron Sieling: A Life of Service, Love, and Community

On February 21, 2025, the Kankakee county community lost one of its brightest lights — Ronald William Sieling, Sr. To everyone who knew him, Ron wasn’t just a neighbor or friend; he was the person you could count on — always ready with a helping hand, a kind word, or a warm smile. His life was one defined by love, faith, and a deep commitment to making the world around him better.

Roots of Strength and Compassion

Born to Lucille and Julius Sieling, Ron’s early years were shaped by both love and resilience. After losing his father at just two years old, Ron was lovingly raised by Myron Drazy, who became a steadfast father figure and guiding presence throughout his life. From those early experiences, Ron learned the importance of family, faith, and perseverance — values that became the foundation of everything he did.

A Love Story That Lasted a Lifetime

In 1969, Ron married the love of his life, Mary Jane Rankin, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kankakee. Together, they built a life centered on faith, laughter, and devotion. Over 55 beautiful years of marriage, they became inseparable partners — their bond inspiring everyone fortunate enough to witness their love.

Family at the Heart of Everything

Ron’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted father to Robin (Eric), Tammy (Armando), Ronald “Duffy,” Jr. (Julie), and Misty (Tom) — each of whom carry forward his lessons of kindness, service, and integrity. His love extended to his 14 grandchildren Marko (Robin), Meghan (Andrew), Emily (Aric), Allie (Tyler), Jacob (Katie), Jeremy (Samantha), Jordan (Beau), Justin (Kirsten), Madalynn (Dylan), Abigail (Colin), Dominic (Amanda), Anthony, McKayla (Frankie), and Ben. As well as 14 great-grandchildren Grace, Gabe, Clara, Clark, Kinsley, Hayden, Wynnie, Maverick, Monroe,  Feighlyn, Oliver, Piper, Charlotte, baby Addams. All of whom filled his days with joy, stories, and laughter. Ron was also deeply close to his sister, Tara Atutis, and his dear friend Carol Beyer, whose friendship brought light and humor to his life.

A Career Built on Dedication

Professionally, Ron spent decades as a sales manager with Schwan’s Ice Cream, earning the admiration of colleagues and customers alike. Later, he brought his dedication and strong work ethic to Meineke Car Care Center, where his reliability and good humor made him a valued member of the team. No matter the role, Ron’s approach was always the same — treat people with respect, give your best effort, and leave things better than you found them. The Sieling family continues to love and support Bill Perakis who is the owner of the Bourbonnais Meineke location. Bill's friendship, support, and constant faith has been a source of comfort and joy to the entire Sieling family.

A Servant Leader in the Community

Service was at the core of who Ron was. For more than two decades, he was an active member of the Bradley Lions Club, serving as Chapter President three times during his 22 years in the organization and helping lead initiatives that strengthened the community he loved. His leadership extended beyond the Lions — he served as President of the St. Joseph Parish Holy Name Society and as Vice President of the Kankakee County Housing Authority, where he worked tirelessly to create more inclusive opportunities for local families. Ron’s compassion and integrity inspired everyone around him. Whether organizing a fundraiser, mentoring a young volunteer, or simply lending a listening ear, he made people feel seen and valued.

A Legacy That Lives On

Ron Sieling’s life was a testament to faith, generosity, and love in action. He believed in showing up for people — not just in moments of celebration, but in times of need. His kindness rippled through the community, touching countless lives in ways both big and small. To honor his lifelong commitment to service, the Ron Sieling Scholarship has been established to support the next generation of Lions Club members through the local high school Leo chapter. It’s a continuation of his mission — to inspire others to lead with compassion, integrity, and purpose.

Though he may no longer walk among us, Ron’s spirit continues to guide and inspire everyone he touched. His legacy reminds us that a good life isn’t measured by accolades or wealth, but by the love we give and the lives we lift along the way.

May he rest in paradise — reunited with his parents, and forever remembered by the community he helped build.
